Why f-commerce? 1 in 11 humans are there [infographic]

To adapt an oft’ cited line “Facebook is big. Really big. You just won’t believe how vastly hugely mindboggingly big it is. I mean you may think it’s a long way down the road to the chemist, but that’s just peanuts to Facebook” (ch. 8).  To be precise, 621 743 220 is the current number of users on Facebook, compared to a world population of 6,899,600,000.  That means 1 in 11 humans are active on Facebook.

So why take the plunge with f-commerce, the emerging 4th retail channel (after stores, mail order and web, Facebook)?  Probably because there are more people on Facebook now than there were online when you first opened your web-store.  Remember all those naysayers who said e-commerce would never take off… And if you’re a brand that missed the e-commerce revolution – lucky you, you’ve got a second chance to join a new revolution.

To put extreme Facebook stats in perspective, here’s are a couple natty infographics, one sponsored by onlineschools, and the other by the most excellent Facebook resource SocialBakers, to help get things in perspective.  Then checkout Alex Droner’s brilliant video – ‘A Life on Facebook’ (embedded below) (if YouTube leave it up long enough this time)…

  8. Its no doubt that facebook pages would prove to be a better platform to connect with users/customers. This in turn will provide further scope for f-commerce to expand. The viral nature of Facebook is a strong factor that drives the adoption rate of f-commerce.
